EURAXESS SWEDEN NETWORK
There are eighteen EURAXESS Service Centres (ESC) in Sweden. They all follow the "Declaration of Commitment version 2022", which means providing free personalised assistance in matters related to mobility. Find your nearest ESC in Sweden. The Bridge Head Organisation (BHO) of EURAXESS Sweden is Vinnova; a government agency under the Ministry of Enterprise and Innovation, and the national contact authority for the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation. Vinnova stimulates collaborations between companies, universities and other higher education institutions, public services, civil society and other actors. The activities also focus on strengthening international cooperation.
The operative work for the Swedish EURAXESS network has been deligated to a ESC. For 2022-2025 Linköping University is the coordinator of the Swedish network.

Blekinge Institute of Technology – Challenging the established and exploring the unknown
BTH’s task is to contribute to a more sustainable societal development through higher education, research and innovation.
We conduct education and research at a high international level, focusing on IT integrated with other subjects such as engineering, industrial economics, spatial planning, design, and health sciences.
BTH invests in professionally oriented study programmes of high quality that develop the student as a whole. Innovation, entrepreneurship and sustainability are included in all programmes. We focus on the future of our students, and offer courses and study programmes that prepare them to face societal challenges.
A special feature is our close cooperation with industry and society.
Chalmers – research and education for a better world
Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg conducts research and education in technology and natural sciences at a high international level. The university has 3100 employees and 10,000 students, and offers education in engineering, science, shipping, and architecture. With scientific excellence as a basis, Chalmers promotes knowledge and technical solutions for a sustainable world. Through global commitment and entrepreneurship, we foster an innovative spirit, in close collaboration with wider society. The EU’s biggest research initiative – the Graphene Flagship – is coordinated by Chalmers. We are also leading the development of a Swedish quantum computer. Chalmers was founded in 1829 and has the same motto today as it did then: Avancez – forward.
Karlstad University – Challenging the established and exploring the unknown
We are one of the youngest universities in Sweden – dynamic, brave and innovative. We can also offer one of the most inspiring university environments in the country with a friendly and open atmosphere. All forms of cultural expression are essential aspects of our university.
The close link between research, education an cooperation is a foundational feature of the whole university, and social commitment is part of our university culture. Extensive education and research centre on important issues. We want to contribute to regional, national and global progress aimed at enhancing sustainability, democracy and health through socially engaged education and research.
Karolinska Institutet – a medical university
Karolinska Institutet (KI) is one of the world’s leading medical universities. Its vision is to significantly contribute to the improvement of human health. Karolinska Institutet accounts for the single largest share of all academic medical research conducted in Sweden and offers the country’s broadest range of education in medicine and health sciences. The Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institutet selects the Nobel laureates in Physiology or Medicine.
The research covers a broad field, from basic molecular biological research to clinical epidemiology and nursing science. KI also conducts clinic-based research, which provides an excellent environment for quickly passing on the benefits of experimental findings to patients, and where clinical observations provide the basis for new research ideas.
A significant share of the research conducted at Karolinska Institutet is done in partnership with Swedish and international companies. To encourage the practical application of ideas and research results in the interest of human health, actors in Karolinska Institutet’s innovation system offer practical advice and support to students and researchers wishing to turn their ideas into innovations or services.
Linköping University will never rest on its laurels
Linköping University conducts world-leading, boundary-crossing research in close collaboration with the business world and society, in fields that include materials science, IT and hearing. In the same spirit, the university offers many innovative educational programmes, many of them with a clear vocational focus, leading to qualification as, for example, doctors, teachers, economists and engineers.
The university has 27,000 students and 4,000 employees on four campuses. Together we seek answers to the complex questions facing us today. Our students are among the most desirable in the labour market and international rankings consistently place LiU as a leading global university.

Luleå University of Technology – World-class Research and Education
Luleå University of Technology is experiencing strong growth with world-leading competence in several areas of research. Our research is conducted in close cooperation with companies such as Bosch, Ericsson, Scania, LKAB, SKF and leading international universities. Luleå University of Technology has a total turnover of SEK 1,6 billion per year. We currently have 1,700 employees and 15,000 students.

Lund University – research and education since 1666
Lund University was founded in 1666 and is repeatedly ranked among the world’s top 100 universities. The University has 42 000 students and 7 400 staff based in Lund, Helsingborg and Malmö. We are united in our efforts to understand, explain and improve our world and the human condition.
Lund is the most popular study location in Sweden. The University offers one of the broadest ranges of programmes and courses in Scandinavia, based on cross-disciplinary and cutting-edge research. The compact university campus encourages networking and creates the conditions for scientific breakthroughs and innovations. The University has a distinct international profile, with partner universities in over 70 countries.
Lund University has an annual turnover of SEK 8 billion, of which two-thirds go to research. Our research is characterised by both breadth and strength and, according to independent evaluations, over 30 of our research fields are world-leading.
KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm has grown to become one of Europe’s leading technical and engineering universities, as well as a key centre of intellectual talent and innovation. We are Sweden’s largest technical research and learning institution and home to students, researchers and faculty from around the world. Our research and education covers a wide area including natural sciences and all branches of engineering, as well as in architecture, industrial management, urban planning, history and philosophy.
Malmö University is an innovative, urban and international higher education institution located in the city centre of Malmö. The University was founded as a university college in 1998 and gained full university status in 2018. We have around 1,800 employees and 24,000 students.
Our research and education contribute to long-term sustainable development through scientific knowledge, critical reflection and action. Global engagement and diversity have always been our core values, and we encourage international collaboration to maintain the high standard of our education, research and overall activities. Mälardalen University – A progressive and collaborative university where together we form a sustainable future.
The University was founded as a college in 1977 and gained full university status in 2022. We have around 1,400 employees and 20,000 students based over two campuses.

Södertörn University is located in Stockholm, offering an international setting for vital discussions about important contemporary issues. We have the closeness between students and academic staff found at small universities and the breadth and depth of research of large universities.
Södertörn University is a young university, with a strong focus on multidisciplinarity. We offer education and conduct research in the humanities, social sciences, technology and natural sciences, often with a multidisciplinary and intercultural profile, and collaborate with the surrounding community for sustainable societal development. We offer high quality education in disciplines such as political science, journalism, the study of religions, aesthetics, environmental science, police education, social work with an urban profile and teacher education with an intercultural profile. Umeå University – a university that makes things possible
Umeå University is home to research and education on a high international level, which contributes to innovation, research advances and enhanced understanding – in Sweden and across the globe.
Its 35,000 students and 4,000 employees make Umeå University one of Sweden’s largest higher education institutions. Having flourished for a mere 50 years means that the University has avoided stagnation and instead finds itself in constant progress. Thanks to its moderate size, but despite its international atmosphere, everything is close by at Umeå University. Here, you find prosperous research environments and cosy accommodation close by. And there are no borders between students, researchers and the management. Campus Umeå is also in close proximity to the town centre and right next door to one of Sweden’s biggest and well-reputed university hospitals. Umeå Arts Campus is a stone’s throw away and another two campuses can be found in neighbouring towns, Skellefteå and Örnsköldsvik.
The University also consists of the highly-ranked Umeå Institute of Design, the Umeå School of Architecture – Sweden’s only such school specialising on the arts –, and a School of Restaurant and Culinary Arts with the most modern research restaurant in Sweden, as well as an environmentally certified Umeå School of Business and Economics.
