ID card

The Tax Agency (Skatteverket) issues ID cards. You can use the ID card as proof of your age and identity at places such as the pharmacy, health care centre, bank or in shops.

You must visit one of the offices in person to be able to apply for an ID card. Remember that there are only certain offices that issue ID cards. The application fee is SEK 400 and the fee must have been paid before you apply for an ID card.

Checklist for the ID card application

To be able to apply for an ID card, you must be registered as living in Sweden (having received the personal identification number), be able to show a receipt for the application fee payment (pay in good time) and be able to show who you are (prove your identity).
